What do we sing?

We sing choral music, both secular and sacred, from the 16th to the 21st century (in 4 to 8 voice parts) in a number of European languages including English, Latin, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Hungarian, Finnish, Slovak, Icelandic...
We generally concentrate on lesser known and more rarely performed small to medium scale works, rather than the more standard repertoire of the larger well known works that many other choral societies and choirs concentrate on.
The choir performs two, sometimes three, concerts a year in local churches and other venues.
See marywardcentre.ac.uk for further details including fees and enrolment.

Spring and Summer Term 2016
During these two terms we worked on a collaboration with the London Euphonia Orchestra for a concert held in St James's Church, Sussex Gardens on June 18th 2016. We contributed a performance with the orchestra of Brahms Schicksalslied, Op.54. This was a very exciting project for all concerned, demanding great commitment and concentration. We also performed an a capella encore of Brahms Da unten im Tale. In our own classes we worked on Unser Vater by Homilius, as well as Schubert's Willkommen lieber schöner Mai, the traditional song Down by the Sally Gardens and Tchaikovsky's Die goldene Wolke schlief.
Winter Term 2016
The choir will, once again, be contributing to The National Brain Appeal's Christmas Carol Concert which is being held in December.
